Potassium Permanganate

It is used as an oxiding to produce colourings, organic chemical products and pharmaceutical ones, it is especially used to produce saccharin in which it is produced as a by-product a hydrate of MnO2, precious for the industry of electrical batteries; It is used as a bleaching and as a deodorant for oils, fats, resins and waxes; it is used to purify alcohol, acetic acid, ammonia, water; to preserve and colour wood; to purify carbon dioxide that is used to produce fizzy drinks; in metallurgic industry it is used as an oxiding and a purifier; to colour copper dark; it is used to refine nickel; to bleach yarns, fabrics, silk, straw and chamois leather, it is used to tan leather; in photography it is used as a reagent and in laboratory to absorb toxic gases, in filters for military gas masks; it is used as a disinfectant together with gas formaldehyde. In medicine and veterinary science it is used as an oxiding agent, deodorant, antiseptic, local astringent and as antidote for some poisons (alkaloids).
